2005 Chardonnay: The influence of French oak is very obvious in this wine. The nose shows an amalgam of fruit, fermentation esters and spicy vanillin oak. The wine was oak aged on lees for 6 mnths which has imparted the spice and palate structure to the wine, crafted to provide some longevity this single vineyard Chardonnay provides enough complexity to enjoy now and for a further 5 years.

2005 Chardonnay (Unwooded): This is a very generous Chardonnay that was picked quite ripe to give a wine that is robust and rich in structure. The fruit characteristics are those of tropical fruits balanced with a clean acid finish. Satisfying while young, and with years ahead of it.

2007 Sauvignon Blanc Semillon : The Sav.blanc fruit for this wine was sourced from Orange and the Semillon from Mudgee. The wines were made individually and blended to produce a wine with Sav. blanc dominant on the nose and the Semillon on the palate. It shows pleasant herbal notes with lemon/citrus spine and would be enjoyable on its own or accompanying white fleshed fish.

Late Harvest White: Lemons and limes greet the nose. This is a simply structured wine for casual enjoyment, without any pretensions of complexity. With some residual sweetness it is a wine to be shared amongst friends over a refreshing luncheon. Bronze Medal Mudgee Wineshow 2006.

Botrytis Semillon: Deep yellow in colour this wine has a nose reminiscent of apricot nectar. The botrytis’ effect on the fruit has been to impart a honeycomb note to the aroma which blends well with the subtle botrytis lift. The palate is an amalgam of honey and lychee flavours balanced by a clean acid finish. Silver-Class 32 Small Winemakers Wineshow 2005. 2005 Sangiovese Rose: An unusual combination of Italian grape variety and a drier French style rose. The wine has attractive crimson and pink hues. Even when served ice cold the wine delivers a heady fragrance of berry characters which follow through to the palate. The flavours are of strawberry and raspberry with refined varietal notes. The wine is quite dry with a structure that is in harmony with its natural acidity.

2005 Merlot: Ageing in French oak for 6 months has added a complexing element to the ripe plum fruit aromas of this wine. The palate has rich silky plum notes with a hint of tannin that augers well for the wines longevity. 2005 Petit Verdot: The first release of this wine for Burnbrae. The wine has strong scents of violets and mint on the nose which carry through to the palate. French oak overtones meld with the varietal flavours to present an appealing wine with good ageing potential. 2003 Shiraz: Bright cherry red in colour, this wine has youth showing through the clean, lively fruit aromas. The strong typically Shiraz bouquet is supported and enhanced by American oak. NEW RELEASE 2004 Shiraz: This wine carries the typical deep red hues of Mudgee Shiraz. The aroma delivers big ripe spicy Shiraz characters with distinctive notes of French and American oak. The palate is quite dense and complex. Strong fruit flavours are enhanced by 2 years maturation in a combination of French and American oak barrels. What can be tasted and sensed is vanilla, fruit cake built upon a tannic backbone. 5 stars & Top in Category Winestate 2008.

NEW RELEASE 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon: The fruit for this wine came from hand-picked 30 year old vines. It was fermented in traditional open fermenters and basket pressed prior to 18 months ageing in new and second use French oak barrels. It possess a tight ripe plum aroma complimented by charry oak. The balanced palate has great length with a rich concentrated fruit flavour. It has weight and structure with enough sweet fruit and tannin to hold it in good stead over 7 years. 3 stars Winestate 2008.

2006 Pinot Noir: Bright cherry red in colour this wine ably shows true cool climate character. The fruit was sourced from the Rylstone area near Mudgee. The nose has a distinctive strawberry aroma that is often associated with this variety with a subtle background of oak aged characters. The fruit sweet palate is soft and flavoursome with a long finish.

NEW RELEASE 2005 Clive Gale: A blend of equal proportions of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. This is a stylish blend dominated on the nose by berry fruit characteristics with minty notes. Aged in older French oak barrels it delivered on fruit rather than vanillin oak. The palate is clean and fresh with the Cabernet tannins softened and lengthened by the Merlot and Petit Verdot. Blended to give a medium weight palate the wine will reward cellaring for 3-4 years. |
